The lodge is truly wonderfully positioned for walking and a get away from it all stay. Good spec, large garden, very private, topped off with a fab hot tub.

Lovely little lodge in a beautiful secluded location. Extremely tidy and clean. Wonderful to have charging point available and the hot tub was a bonus. Good garden and deck for the dogs if the weather cooperates!

We have just spent a wonderful week at Sarah & Eòin’s beautiful lodge & we can’t wait to go back. The location was fab, just a short drive to Bowness on Windermere, Ambleside & Windermere itself where we were spoilt for local walks & plenty of dog friendly places to eat & then only just over an hours drive to Scafell pike & Blackmoss Pot which were both amazing if you like a good walk. The lovely hot tub was then greatly appreciated on our return from long walks each day. We were so lucky to see plenty of wildlife around the lodge itself, we had deer that just walked through the garden & my highlight, a stunning barn owl which had chosen to nest in a local barn. We all thoroughly enjoyed waiting for it to fly by every evening. The lodge itself had everything you needed to feel like home & we really enjoyed the choice of board games for the evenings. The laundry room with tumble dryer become an absolute lifesaver after we got soaked on many of our walks! The garden was perfect for us & our 3 dogs, they loved exploring it & I felt happy knowing it was secure for them. Thank you Sarah & Eòin for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful holiday home. I have attached some images of us enjoying the lodge, the wildlife & some of the walks we enjoyed during our stay.
Many thanks, Lauren & family x

We have just come back from the most amazing weekday break at Thornyfield Lodge. We found it really hard finding a place that ticked all our boxes and this ticked every box and more! Breathtaking views , very peaceful and the hot tub was a huge bonus. The dogs felt at home and there was plenty of room for our two GSDS in the living and kitchen area. The lodge had everything we needed to cook, recycle and was very clean throughout. Enclosed garden and balcony area which was really important to us. The only thing to be aware of when booking is that the track to the lodge is very narrow and single lane. If you have a huge vehicle it’s a little difficult to navigate especially if there is an oncoming car. It’s not a high traffic area though so this didn’t impact us too much. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you Sarah & Eóin, we hope to be back in the future.

We had a lovely week at the lodge. Beautiful place with beautiful views. It was so quiet, private and relaxing . The hot tube was amazing. Dogs loved it too. Plenty of space for them to run around and play. The lodge was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Couldn't ask for anything more. We'll definitely book the lodge again.

Having stayed a number of times in two other Thornyfield holiday homes, we decided to try Thornyfield lodge as it looked tremendous on Sarah's website -- we were not disappointed!
The lodge, which sits on a peaceful, elevated position with lovely views across the Gilpin valley, is well laid out with everything that you need to make your stay enjoyable. The bottle of fizz sitting in the 'fridge is always a welcoming touch by Sarah.
Keep a look out for the variety of wildlife that 'pop up' and try and listen for the owls as dusk falls.
We are already booked up for another stay at Thornyfield later in the year.

Where do I start!!!!! The barn and garden is done to a high standard! Just beautiful. The bathrooms are all tiled with great showers. Oak all the way through with under floor heating. Remote control velux windows. Kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed and more. I visited here with my parter & foster child, partners mum and dad and my brother and partner. And our four legged family members reggie, Oscar & milo. The garden is great for the dogs as they couldn’t get out. Table and chairs outside which was useful for our bbq in APRIL!!! Hot tub was lovely and checked & filled everyday. I called the owner (Sarah) to ask how to open the master bedroom window as it was electric she sent her husband within minutes of my call. The walks around this place were just great. The views were amazing. A fantastic week in a fantastic barn, worth every penny and would definitely recommend to anyone. We all can’t wait to come back.

Our second time staying at Thornyfield Barn and it has once again been a fantastic stay. It is a beautiful place and in a really picturesque and a great place to relax and unwind. The barn interior continues to be furnished to a superbly high standard. The place was absolutely spotless. We also had loads of room which was great and this was with 8 of us and a baby staying this time. The garden outside is lovely. Its lovely to sit out and enjoy the views and the hot tub really adds to the experience also.
Once again we had a faultless and fantastic time and would recommend Thornyfield Barn to everyone. Just working out when we can book again.

Wow!!
4 couples stayed at Thornyfield Barn. You couldn’t ask for a better accommodation. The barn has been put together by such a high standard, they have though of every tiny thing you’ll need from a hot tub and cosy fire to underfloor heating, a drying shed and every kitchen utensil and equipment you could possibly need.
Although the owners are nearby and there’s some other accommodation, you feel like you’re in your own secluded paradise.
Perfect location to feel away from it all, but easy access to Bowness and other places. Really recommend the Brown Horse pub for food.
Planning to book again just to try the lodge!

Lovely little cottage, in beautiful surroundings. Just hills, fields, cows and sheep as far as the eye can see, we saw hare and deer in the fields opposite the cottage. It was quite a long drive (for a scaredy cat like me) down a single track road but it meant it was secluded and quiet. The cottage was spotlessly clean and pretty comfortable, with everything you'd require, there are low beams upstairs, so a few head bumps despite warning signs. Private little courtyard with a lovely hot tub ,perfect for a soak after a day out walking, we loved it, would definitely return .

A lovely traditional cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location, with all the necessary facilities. We much enjoyed our stay at Thornyfield Cottage. The "bubbles" on arrival and those in the super hot-tub were just two of many plus points of our stay.
